Homecoming Heartache

One team was coming off of a hard loss while the other came into the game with a five game winning streak and revenge in their hearts. Hoopa beat the St. Bernards Crusaders in last year’s playoffs. The Crusaders got their revenge, 23-14. The Crusaders had this game circled from the beginning of the season, sending scouts to three of Hoopa’s games. This was an old fashioned high school slobber-knocker, with both teams coming out of the gate ready to hit and be hit. The Warriors drew first blood when Hoopa quarterback Sonny Ryles hit his favorite target, Talon Williams, for a beautiful lobbed 48-yard touchdown. Just like Ferndale the Crusaders keyed on holding the shifting signal caller to a few good runs but mostly short scrambles and sacking him 6 times and hitting almost every play. Read More →

Warriors Split Double Header With South Fork

May 19 the Hoopa High Warriors were set play the South Fork Cubs in their final doubleheader of the season. A win in one of these games would mean that for the first time in sixteen years a Hoopa Baseball team had clinched second place in the HDNL Little Four. Hupa Stick Warriors Club Seeking Players

The Hupa Stick Warriors Club is seeking players and has scheduled practice to prepare for this year’s season. Anyone interested in learning and playing traditional sticks in the Hoopa area is welcome to attend practices scheduled to begin June 28, on Monday, Thursday and Fridays of each week from 6-8:30 pm at the Stick Field across from Hostler Field Housing. Crusaders Sweep Warriors
