All-Indian Basketball Tournament Fundraising Efforts Continue at Lucky Bear Casino

This year’s annual All Indian Basketball Tournament will be held May 12-15 in Hoopa, just about six weeks from now. Since the tournament is celebrating its 50th anniversary, the pot for first place will be $10,000 and Pendleton leather-sleeve jackets. Over the years, basketball has evolved into one of the most popular sports for Indian Country. In 1954, Chiloquin, Ore., initiated the first All-Indian Invitational Basketball Tournament which then snowballed into similar tournaments across the nation. Hoopa is no different.
