The GOOD: After a tiresome debate over the First Amendment and government censorship, the Two Rivers Tribune is up and running. A meeting held Friday between Hoopa Valley Tribal Chairman, Leonard Masten and Interim Managing Editor, Allie Hostler resulted in an agreement to keep the Newspaper, without censorship post or prior to publication. A plan to relieve the Tribe of its financial obligations to the Two Rivers Tribune while maintaining and improving the TRT’s journalistic integrity will be presented to the Tribal Council early this week. The 14th Annual Dream Quest Golf Tournament & Fundraiser held Saturday, June 4, was smooth, successful and stirring. The kindness and munificence of donors and auction participants moved board members and diners to tears of gratitude. Golfers were blessed with seventeen and a half holes of magnificently dry golf on the beautiful Baywood course, amidst days of wet weather. Admittedly, it was gusty for a few holes, and the ninety-six golfers had to dodge a few raindrops for the last fifteen minutes on the course, but that only made the classy country club dining experience all the more welcoming. Guests were treated to a fine lunch, drinks throughout the day, BBQ oysters at two locations on the course, and a magnificent dinner. The annual event was not only a splendid day, but it supports valuable year-round and summer programs to the youth of Willow Creek and its greater surrounding area. Dream Quest, which has provided over 72,000 youth service hours since its inception, was begun with a single vision and funds from this annual event.
