VOICES: Boy Scouts Cub Master Thanks the Community
Dear Two Rivers Tribune,
My name is Frank E. Richards and I am the Cub Master of the local Scout Pack #97, here in Hoopa. We had our first fundraiser last Friday morning selling breakfast burritos at $5.00 each. We made about $630.00. We were able to buy all matching T-shirts, some arts and crafts supplies, and some prizes for our meetings. We are also going to purchase some hard hats, safety vests and safety glasses that are needed for our field trips and some books for our scouts. I would like to thank everyone who bought a burrito! You have certainly invested in the future of the youth in Hoopa. I would like to thank Meagan Baldy, Vivienna Orcutt, Ariel Richards, Roxanne Mike and Naishian Richards for cooking and delivering. I would like to thank TCCC/Americorps for a huge order and the teachers and staff at Hoopa Elementary, the TANF crew and Howard O’Neil for donating gas money for the deliveries. I want to thank my mom Julie McKinnon for being patient. Thanks to the people in the Land Department, Roads Dept., Project Connect, Human Services and the Library. We will be holding more scheduled fundraisers in the near future. We want to buy camping equipment and start having all of our boys in uniforms soon! Thank you again to the Hoopa Community for your support. Cub Scouts are for boys in the first grade to fifth grade, or ages 7-11, Boy Scouts are sixth grade to twelfth grade or ages 12-18. We have a group of both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Applications can be picked up at the Gym in the NF Recreation office, or call me (707) 273-2704.
