Chase Ends With Crash on Bald Hills

On March 1, 2014 at approximately 2:30 pm, a disturbance occurred on a remote property on the east end of Bald Hills Road.
Thomas Blake left the property on a 1990 Suzuki dual sport motorcycle, and Jake Grossman-Christ began to chase after Blake. Grossman-Christ had Tyler Knight as a passenger in the open bed of a Dodge pickup truck.
Grossman – Christ chased Blake westbound on Bald Hills Road at a high rate of speed. Sheriff’s Deputies witnessed part of the chase as they responded to a disturbance call placed by Grossman-Christ shortly before the chase began.
Hoopa Volunteer Firefighters, CDF, Humboldt Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
Knight and Blake were transported to the Hoopa airport for possible air lifting to area hospitals.
According to the CHP, Blake suffered major injuries and Grossman-Christ and Knight suffered minor injuries.
Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department’s Lt. Steve Knight said the original disturbance call was a possible vehicle trespassing case, however a completed report was not available as of press time.
