Umpqua Debuts Art of Local Quilter
By RHONDA BIGOVICH, TRT Contributing Writer
Pat Bull, a local quilter, has an exhibit at the local Umpqua Bank in Willow Creek. Bull approached Manager Brittney Euan-Estrada to pitch the idea of the display.
Euan-Estrada said, “We jumped at the offer when she suggested the idea of exhibiting her quilt work.”
Bull has worked on the eight quilts for nearly a year and made these pieces specifically for the exhibition.
The women of Willow Creek have a few quilting groups. Pat is a member of the Nine Patch Divas.
Fellow Diva, Carol Foster said, “When we get together, the group of us girls. It’s just fun.”
The Nine-Patch Divas have a tradition of renting a house in Oregon, by the ocean, to which they retreat and do nothing but quilt.
“They are fun to make,” Bull said. “Out of the eight quilts on display, four sold on the first day.”
She makes them with ease and is open to taking orders, each pattern is different, and some take longer than others. Bull takes pride in her work.
Manager Euan-Estrada said, “We have so much space here.”
Bull’s quilt exhibition will be on display until the end of November, and Umpqua Bank is looking for more art to be put on the walls of the local bank.
“I would love to get more local artist lined up,” Euan-Estrada said.
