Adam Troy Allen Sr.

Adam Troy Allen Sr. passed away January 16, 2013 in Concord, CA, surrounded by his family at the age of 49. Troy was born to the late Carolita Allen of Eureka and Duane and Shirley Allen of Orleans, CA, on April 3, 1963 in Eureka, CA.  Husband to Madeline Hubbard and father to Kendall Jenee’, Ryan Rosalind, Adam Troy Jr., Ashley Alyssa and Emily Marie, and grandfather to Isaiah Angel, Josiah Ningxa’t’e:n and Tianna Priscilla. He was a proud member of the Yurok Tribe and a descendant of the Karuk and Wiyot Tribes.

He attended elementary school in Arcata/Eureka/Orleans, high school in Eureka and Hoopa and he recently attended College of the Redwoods.  He was a gifted athlete and participated in youth football, baseball and Co-ed Softball. He was very competitive in nature.  He was a true and faithful Cowboys and Dodger fan, always wanting to reminisce about the games, his biggest thrill was watching them play at Candle Stick Park where they defeated the 49ers. He was also the biggest fan of his children as he enjoyed teaching them how to play baseball and watching them compete in various sports.

Troy had a contagious laugh and the ability to connect with people. In his spare time he enjoyed writing songs, learning more and more of the Tribes rich history and practices and spending time with his loved ones. He was a hard worker.  He worked for the CDF Helitac fighting fire, Hoopa Forestry, and many years for the Eel River Saw Mills, Blue Lake Sawmill and Schmidt-Bauer Lumber Companies as a Green Chain operator.  Most recently employed at Home Depot and the Environmental Resource Specialties Department.

He was singer in every sense of the word.  He loved to sing, it was his gift.  Troy spent many of his years practicing the traditional ways of the Yurok and Karuk Tribes, he took great pride in the cultural practices.  He was also a devoted Catholic and was an active member of the church along with his wife and youngest daughter Emily. He was an honorable man who will be forever remembered for his strength, work ethic, compassion and kindness.

He is survived by his devoted aunt and uncle Delmar and Marian McLaughlin whom he cherished. His father-in-law Alfred Hubbard, his uncles Floyd and Harold McLaughlin, his aunts Delores Nova, Adrian (Gary) Gilkison and Beverly Allen and cousin Sharon Martinez. His brothers Delmar ”Zak”Sr. (Sunni), Alme (Paula “Pimm”), Eddie (Theresa), the late Phyllis (Floyd), Paul (Leslie), Peter, Patti Coleman, and the late Patrick Allen.  Uncle to his nieces Nicoli, Jessica, Tyithreeha, Ahtyirahm, Amiah and nephews Delmar Jr., Shawn, Elder, Brandon and Evan and his many relatives and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents the late Orville and Maymi Allen and the late Elder and Rose McLaughlin.  His brother, the late Duane “Shawn,” his uncles Leon McLaughlin, Orville and Alme Allen his aunts Bessie, Percilla and Wanda “Chubby” McLaughlin and Loretta Allen.

Troy was laid to rest at the Conrad Family Cemetery in Somes Bar, CA on January 26, 2013.
