A suspected homicide, discovered this morning by a relative of the victim, has occurred at a residence near the intersection of  Moon Lane and Highway 96 in Hoopa.

Multiple law enforcement agencies—California Highway Patrol, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and Hoopa Valley Tribal Police—have been on the scene since approximately 10:30am this morning.

“CHP is out there [in Hoopa] on follow-up, but this is not relatable to this morning’s incident [hit and run on Myrtle Ave. in Eureka] at this time,” William Adams, a Public Information Officer for CHP, said. “CHP was called out to assist Tribal Police and Humboldt County with their investigation.”

Police have not confirmed or denied a connection between the suspected homicide in Hoopa and the hit and run that occurred at approximately 5:50am this morning claiming the life of a Bayside woman whose identity has not yet been released pending family notification.

CHP reportedly contacted Hoopa Valley Tribal Police this morning in regards to the Myrtle Ave. hit and run incident.

The Two Rivers Tribune was told by Hoopa Tribal Police officers, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies and CHP officers that further information will become available as the investigation continues.

Did the driver of the Kia that killed a jogger, seriously injured two other joggers and killed a dog on Myrtle Avenue take her own life; or was she a witness as a passenger of someone else driving? – HOJ

I am deeply disturbed by the murdrers of these two women by this coward of a man Jason Warren.. I am also now sure of the Hoopa Tribal police’s incompetence and inabbility to serve or protect the community. Some months ago this same so called man attacked my 20 yr old son with iron knuckles wich are an illegal and sissyfied weapon.
I contacted the Tribal police myself as did my son they assured me he was arrested and would be charged with assault or something that would keep him put away for sometime. To my dismay and astonishment i witnessed this punk walking downtown hoopa the very next day. So i think our police force needs to start making some serious changes and make them now. sincerely disturbed m.melendy

The problem is that unless you commit a bad crime like this , you won’t be locked up in jail for long . In Eureka nobody stays in jail that long because it’s too crowded. There are too many people who don’t care about anything and they don’t get punished until something like this happens.
