‘Owhwhe (5/15/12)

By Gianna Orozco, Friends of the Kim Yerton Library

I kept my fingers crossed for weeks as I checked the daily weather forecasts and on May 5, I woke up to a clear sunny sky. I was so delighted for all of us to enjoy a day in the sun, listening to music provided by KIDE 91.3, snacking on fruit provided by the K’ima:w Diabetes Program, and drawing on the sidewalk! The Chalk It Up For Books event sponsored by the Friends of the Kim Yerton Memorial Library was once again a great success. If you haven’t seen the art yet, swing by the library to check it out…pun intended. The kids also enjoyed the storyteller, Linda Boyden, and we were lucky enough to have Linda draw in a square for us! The Friends appreciate all who participated in our annual fundraiser, so a big THANK YOU goes to our sponsors and artists: Al Huneke, Alex Hodge, Allison Kane, American Legion Post 415, Athena Markussen, Brenda’s Place, Christian Maloney, Chwa’kin Latham, Coast Central CU Hoopa, CR Art Class, Dave Sanderson, Deshonia Harrie, Ellen Raigosa-Sanderson, Familiar Gestures, Girl Scouts: Tesche, Kinesche, Cheyenne, Star, Klyn & Sebastian, Glorai Englert, Harper Motors, HCATEP, Hoopa Forestry, Hoopa Roads Dept, Hoopa Plant Management, Hoopa Recreation Dept, Hoopa Tribal Education, Humboldt Bay Electric, Humboldt County Library, HY Vocational Rehabilitation, Jacqueline Latalien, Janice Nixon and family, Janice Yerton, Joe’s Deli, Joseph R.
