Willow Creek Fire Safe Council Hosts Chipper Day

By Kristi Shelloner, Two Rivers Tribune

The Willow Creek Fire Safe Council will be holding a free neighborhood chipper day in Burnt Ranch area on Saturday, Oct. 15. The target is Hennessey Road – up to 4 miles off Highway 299, School Road and Underwood Mtn. Road – up to USFS land 4 to 4 1/2 miles off Highway 299.

If you are not in these areas but have piles of brush, you are urged to contact the WCFSC to schedule a chipper day in your area. Reduce the hazardous woody fuels on your property by cutting brush and limbs. Pile the brush and limbs at designated locations for chipping by the Fire Safe volunteers. Branches up 4-inch in diameter can be chipped. Stack brush and limbs so all cut ends face the same way. Piles must be free of nails, wire, rocks and mud, vines, poison oak and scotch broom.

To volunteer or have the chippers visit your property, please call Barbara Darst at (707) 499-0767 or Joe O’Hara (530) 629-3438.
