Christmas Tree Permits for Sale

Forest Supervisor Tyrone Kelley said personal use Christmas Tree Permits can now be purchased at all of the Six Rivers National Forest offices. Permits will be available starting November 1 through December 23, 2011.

Christmas Tree Permits are $10.00 each. One tree is allowed per permit, with up to two permits per person. Every permit must have a valid name and address. Persons must be at least 18 years old to purchase a permit. Permits are good for this year only; all sales are final.

Forest Service offices will be open for permit sales on Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. District offices will also be open on weekends as noted below. All offices will be closed November 11 in observance of Veteran’s Day and November 24 for Thanksgiving Day.

The office will be closed from 12:00 – 12:30 p.m. on weekdays.

A permit may be purchased by mail. Include the following information with the request: (1) Name, (2) Address where to mail permit, (3) Daytime telephone number, (4) Driver’s license number, and (5) Check or money order for $10.00 per permit payable to “USDA Forest Service.” Please put ‘Christmas Tree Permit’ on the outside of the envelope, and allow one week for processing your request.

To ensure your visit to the Six Rivers National Forest is an enjoyable and safe experience, please follow these important tips:

• Bring cold weather clothing, even if the day is nice when you start out.

• Bring emergency food and water, first aid kit, tire chains, and shovel.

• Have a full tank of gas in your vehicle.

• Let someone know your location and estimated return time.

• November and December weather can change quickly, so please be prepared.
