Happy Camp High School ‘All School’ Reunion

By Connie J. Davis, Two Rivers Tribune

Happy Camp High School recently held its second “All School” Reunion. The event was for anyone who attended Happy Camp High School, not just graduates.

The first reunion was held in 2003 with 200 former classmates showing up. That year, the oldest person was from the class of 1937 and the person who traveled the furthest to attend came all the way from New York City.

This year’s event was held at River Park in Happy Camp. The oldest person was retired teacher Wilson Forbes, 88, of Happy Camp. The person who traveled the most miles was Elliott Steele of Las Vegas, Nev.

Attendance was down a bit this year, only 150 people showed up to enjoy the catered ribs and chicken dinner by Tori Pope and music by D.J. Rick of V.I.P. Entertainment of southern Oregon.

The cost of attendance also included a Sunday morning pancake breakfast. Mosquitoes were out in full-force at River Park and were sending some people home early.

One of the organizers of the event, Sharon Croker, said the reunion was originally intended to be held every five years, but time got away and there ended up being a seven year gap between the events.

Croker said they hope to hold the reunion again, five years from now, in the year 2015.
