Opinions (John Mason–Willow Creek, CA)

Dear Two Rivers,

I listened to the candidates for 5th District Supervisor speak at the local debate in Willow Creek on April 22. There are good things to be said about all four men. My choice is Pat Higgins. I first met Pat 20 years ago when he and his wife, Diane, put on a week-long teacher training dealing with the Klamath River watershed. It was by far one of the top educational trainings I experienced in my entire career of teaching math and science. We traveled throughout the basin and met with ranchers, Tribal leaders, watershed groups, ocean salmon trollers and Indian fishermen. The time we spent was informative, inspirational, and most importantly, useful for teachers. Pat provided background information as we traveled and he showed a command of social, biological, and economic issues of the basin.

Pat’s level of energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to bettering our world hasn’t waned in the years since. He has accumulated a wealth of information and experience regarding the Northern California rivers, watersheds, and related issues. If you haven’t decided on which candidate to vote for, I encourage you to consider choosing Pat Higgins.

Thank you,

 John Mason– Willow Creek, CA
